Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

When there is flabbiness and sagging in the abdomen, often after pregnancy or in people who have undergone major weight changes, the solution is abdominoplasty: surgery that gets you back your flat stomach.

Pre-operation

We perform a pre-operation overview including a complete medical analysis (hepatitis / AIDS) and electrocardiogram. If the patient is over 40 years, a chest x-ray is also required.

Surgery

Abdominoplasty is for superficial abdominal fat only: it cannot remove intra-abdominal fat. It reconstructs the abdominal wall by setting the rectus abdominis muscles at the expense of a scar on the lower abdomen. It finishes with a correction of the navel, which must be repositioned.

This procedure lasts from two to five hours. It is performed with local anesthesia and sedation, or under general anesthesia. Depending on circumstances, it can be done on an outpatient basis or require hospitalization for 48 hours.

Post-operation

During the six days that follow, the patient should rest and may return to their normal life in 10 to 15 days.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is the procedure painful?

The postoperative period is a bit painful, but manageable with analgesics. In all cases, patients are very satisfied because the results are quite noticeable.

Does it leave visible scars?

The scar left in the lower abdomen will be easily hidden by underwear or a bathing suit.

Can I undergo a tummy tuck after a cesarean?

Having undergone a cesarean section generally does not affect the possibilities a of getting an abdominoplasty.

How long will I have to wear a belt?

We recommend wearing a belt around the abdomen for about a month. Lymphatic drainage massages are also recommended in the 2 months following the procedure.
