Chemical Peeling

RESULTS

Skin that has been photoaged, hyperpigmented, or that has an otherwise rough and dull appearance is characterized by an accumulation of dead cells on the surface (hyperkeratinization), which slows down the process of cell renewal. Applying an active chemical solution eliminates a particular layer of the skin in a controlled manner, thereby stimulating cell renewal. This mechanism sets off a chain of biological actions which:

• Normalizes keratinization

• Stimulates epidermal renewal

•Hydrates and moisturizes

• Stimulates the synthesis of collagen and elastin

• Increases the thickness of the deeper layers of the skin

• Normalizes oil production

This makes the skin softer to the touch, gives it a single dominant tone, smooths and refines the texture and helps make imperfections disappear, providing a healthy and natural appearance.

PEELING

Peelings are usually classified by the depth of the treatment, which depends on the different chemical ingredients used and variances in the time of application:

- SURFACE PEELING: Formulated with alpha or beta hydroxy acid (AHA / BHA) at low concentrations, this peeling produces a superficial abrasion of the epidermis. Recommended in cases of solar damage and minor skin imperfections, off-tones... Usually it is not necessary to interrupt the daily routine of the patient.

- MEDIUM PEELING: Formulated with alpha or beta hydroxyacids at elevated concentrations, or with trichloroacetic acid (TCA), this peeling may reach the dermoepidermal junction and is recommended for correcting hyperpigmentation and deep wrinkles. It may be necessary to refrain from participation in social activity for a few days.

- DEEP PEELING: Phenol is used as an active ingredient in this peeling requiring anesthesia and a prolonged post-intervention period. For this reason, this peeling is performed under strict medical control and is reserved for very severe cases that have not responded to other treatments.

The team of specialists at Mato-Ansorena Clinics, following a personal evaluation with the latest diagnostic systems (Clearstone), will indicate the type of peeling to use in each case. This will depend on individual characteristics of each patient: skin type, depth of the target lesion, desired results...

It is a simple procedure without analgesics or anesthesia which takes place in short sessions lasting about 30 minutes in which the skin is cleansed and prepared, the peeling is applied and post-peeling care is given as necessary in succesive appointments.

Depending on the procedure chosen and the characteristics specific to the patient’s case, the peelings are conducted in 4 to 6 sessions at intervals of about two weeks. Throughout the treatment the patient will receive precise instructions for post-peeling care to be observed daily with the most suitable products for each case.

At Mato-Ansorena Clinics we have chosen procedures that combine maximum efficiency with minimal side effects and maximum patient comfort, so they can continue with their normal life.
